Former president John Dramani Mahama has made a passionate appeal to the rank and file of the military not to take advantage of the economic mess.

According to him, there is a need for each and everybody to protect the constitutional dispensation despite economic challenges being experienced in recent times.

The former president issued this directive in the concluding part of his lecture on Thursday, October 27 2022, on the theme:  ‘Building the Ghana We Want’.

He reminded the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces to guard against unconstitutional takeovers.

“Let me state that I agree with the president and wish to add my voice to his call on our Armed Forces and security services to remain loyal to the State and the Constitution,” Mr Mahama stated.

He expressed belief that the current dire circumstances, do not give an excuse for any unconstitutional acts in the country.

“Working together as one people and using the levers of the constitution, we can turn this situation around,” he encouraged.

The former president’s call comes weeks after President Nana Akufo-Addo made similar calls on the military hierarchy when he attended one of their programmes held in Accra
